For me, I just want to celebrate my birthday with my friends. Its way better than having any presents but presents are still welcome as always XD.

buy him a shirt. at least it's one thing u know he'll keep and will remind him of u =)
u can get him guy accessories if he's the kind who wears watch, necklace, etc. but it's kinda hard to know a guy's taste. if he doesn't like it, then he wont wear it. wasted.
IMO a shirt is a safe choice, easier to shop for. And easier to budget urself =) And he's bound to wear them.
See what kinda shirt he usually wears or likes.

or if he's into gadgets, and u don have a budget, u can get him an ipod or ps3 like Videl suggested.

as a guy, i'd like personalized gifts that may be conventional, but still different from others...

like how we gave a friend a pendrive for his birthday, etched with his name, few months ago...

probably a sticker designed by urself... or a handphone strap...

hm....I hv budget,tats no more thn RM100...cz I not rich at all...

he dun likes sport, but he likes cat, he likes lim teh v frens, he likes play psp...

but he is a quite special guy, cz no matter hw he busy, wat ppl hv done for him...he still thk BORING at all.. so wat can I present him to make he unforgetable??

guy like me, is happy and grateful enough that my girlfriend will be there at my birthday. i dont care what kind of present she will give me, but her presence is enough.

A WARM HUG AND A ROMANTIC KISS AND COMFORTING PRESENCE is all i want (completely personal opinion).

dunno about your guy though...

if he a romantic guy, stare him in the eyes before kissing him, show how much you love him and adore him and make those silly lovestruck face (like dumbfounded, or staring at kitty look ). when you hug him, whisper in his ear how much he means to you, and how happy are you going out with him.

if he like the rest of uni guy, which still put his EGO in front, i give up. dunno what to give hahaha

it depends to ur creativity, uhm, maybe handmade him something, like sewing or knitting something. that's pretty cheap i mean as in buying the materials. plus i think it's cute
