University life, more often than not, means a whole new world for teenagers / young adults. So as we move deeper into the 21st Century, is there still a taboo in the local society? Is abstinence (sexual one, that is) still a viable idea?

There is nothing wrong with abstinence or not having abstinence. However for those who don't abstain there are more risks involved. Take protection and if you have a kid, take responsibility. Do you get into a relationship just to have sex or to commit to a long-lasting relationship? If your partner really loves you, and either side decides to abstain, your partner should love you more and respect your wishes. If the person breaks up just cause you won't have sex with them, then they weren't worth giving your body to.

Why?

It's not you they want, they just want your body!

Abstinence? In terms of what? Food, Alcohol or Sex?

Then religion becomes in.
Food - Is it because of the coming Ramadan Fast, because you can't eat beef or it's just another Friday.
Alcohol - Do you take it for self-enjoyment (Taking it once in a while is good)? or because of you have to?
Sex - no comment.

Guess it's pretty clear that the issue is about sex, but thanks for the tip, corrections are made. Haha!
Anyways, I think that sexual relationships are a way to enhance the whole experience. I just think that many find the wait worth it due to the aesthetic feelings you may acquire from getting it on for the first time with someone special. Hmm...

I do believe that the blurriness of love could easily overcome the will power of an individual. In any case, I should think that so long as it is consensual between the two individual, only the couple could make decisions about how they deal with their bodies, no matter how irrational it may be.

I agree that we should be responsible for what we had done to our partner and don't just take it for granted that we must have relationship after married, if you think you love your partner, just go for it and remember sfaety first! =P
