1. People in this forum cannot take bad feedbacks...what's the point of asking for feedbacks? All you wanna see is compliments??
2. They like attacking people indirectly..or even directly...What happen to freedom of speech?
3. If you want to clarify any thing...please read properly what the previous poster said before getting to a conclusion and explain totally unrelated stuff
4. Can i say this? most SSSC members are the ones that says stuff that discourage any feedbacks for future...

Well, this is my view for this year...previous year was ok..but this year~~ mad

Before I try to reply to your post, I would like to have a clear understanding of your post. Hope you don't mind.

hai,
Allow me to say some thing here,
Ignore what position am i...as a council member, as a admin of the forum..
i just wan say something like you, as a normal student...

1st, they do appreciated what you had comment...(bad or good)
Before i haven join sssc, i never think and willing to join any sssc events. Sometime, i felt they are lame...
However, try to stand on their side....they try to do the things best...using many month of time...they earn nun thing...they all volunteer and try to help Swinburne and students create events…to make ur uni life more memorable..I never say you cant comment (bad comment) but why SSSC member cant reply in their way….Is that what you call freedom of speech...Is that all your comments are real?right?
what i wana say here is....
since you cant really accept what ppl comment on you then why you wana ppl accept what you said...

comon....it is just a forum talk....
dun get serious here...
it is not point to angry, sad or what...

i remember what snowfish wrote in Brendan Goh post...
you said what ever the Brendan wrote in the blog is his freedom..
then what SSSC member wrote here is also their freedom..

you might not agree what i try to mention here...
but please...calm down

cheer up~

Freedom? All i get is whole lot of flamming...all are excuses given to not take my comment into consideration... like: if u r so good..why dun u run for president bla bla bla... All i'm saying is that I'm telling the truth...truth is never pretty...1st is ppl cannot accept the fact the bad thgs are point out....then they give a lot of post as in defending whatever i've mentioned..those are nt strong defense...Why do I want to lie about the experience i get? since for Prom case...i'm the one paying for it...is it wrong to give feedbacks that are negative? I believe all the positive outcome of the event, everyone can see that so no point in writing them in ****..

@apple..can u please check ur spelling when u post??there's typo...

I disagree. Members of the SSSC are expected to act professionally and not just simply say or respond to anything. Snowfish, on the other hand, has no such obligations since she is not a member of the Council.

That said, I must also express my disappointment at how some members of the Council are responding to the comments and criticism in this forum. The online responses of previous Councils are better, more polished and professional.

Flaming is still a form of speech. you say the truth is never pretty. I agree, but you could have done it in a more polite way am i right? Saying Dennis Gan sucked, keep that in heart, but when u mention it, why not say the way he emceed was no appropriate? isnt it a more polite way in giving feedbacks. We dont go "Your so lousy" when you cant do something that meets expectations, instead we go, i don't think your doing as good as you should be. Which one sounds better to the ears or rather is better to the eyes? How would you react to hostility. If you are to say that people cannot take bad feedbacks, could you take points they pointed out to clarify on your feedbacks?

Sorry if we have disappointed you, but then again, the council changes with every year, having different people. And different people act differently from others. People have different views on one thing. We may have interpreted it in the wrong way. And for that once more i would want to say sorry on behalf of all the council members. If everyone agrees, Lets stop with this dissatisfaction.

lol. it's not funny. i am agreeing with what Hans L. said above.

of course negative comments should be put in more constructive ways. if everyone use more consideration in the way the respond to each other, everyone feels respected, then less conflicts.

Everyone agrees that we all have our freedom to voice out our opinions and dissatisfactions. I would dare say the majority of SSSC members did give consideration to ur constructive criticisms. Most of the time we were merely explaining as to why certain things could not be done, (for example u were dissatisfied with the sitting plan and Alvin explained to u why this happened), we are definitely not trying to ignore ur comments altogether.
And for the part where some replied in ways such as "if ure so good why dun run for president", I personally feel that it isn't the correct way to address an issue. With that, I genuinely apologise on behalf of SSSC members who've done so.

On the point that ppl cannot accept the fact that bad things are pointed out. All along we do stress that constructive criticisms are welcomed, since when do we not accept negative comments. However do consider the fact that SSSC has worked very hard to make this year's prom happen. Certain comments that aren't as constructive may hit us hard.

I personally do not think it's right to pin-point apple's typo. As long as u can understand, it's enough. No one is vocab and grammar perfect, neither are u. This is not an english class.

Guys guys~ Please refrain from flaming each other.

Commenting and complementing is good. But there is a line between flaming and complaining. One has the right to say what they want, how they want but there is a rule that one does not flame people. Restrain has to be exercise as like per mentioned, one has to properly rephrase it else it would hurt others.

There is no wrong or right on what one can say but flaming is viewed as bad and people dislike it. Please do refrain from trying to "shoot" everyone back.

Cheers. ^_^

Is there a rule against flaming?
then that rule would be a good deterrent
