Just wondering who uses Photoshop CS3 extended or OpenCanvas....
is it cool? where can I find a graphic tablet and stylus? I don't suppose I can find what I want in spring.

What other softwares (graphics or cool softwares) do you guys use?
anyone using photoshop elements/premier or some other thing?
maybe even printshop?

Pretty proficient in Photoshop CS2... CS3 isn't much a difference besides tighter integration with the other Adobe products. I'm also using Illustrator for vector work.

It's pretty easy to find tablets online right now. ^^ Try lowyat or something.

OpenCanvas is more simple and direct while PS CS3 offers more things you can use. It depends on what you want.

Tablet wise, you can ask Apple to order them for you. Apple store near Petanak does accept orders, but that what a few years back.

first of all, it is all about your skill. without skill, i give you whatever cool program or powerful program and you will end up with ... lulz The first thing you should do is learn some skills. My friend prefer to use corel draw, whereas I prefer Photoshop. Very Happy

For tablet, you can go the spring, Switch, Apple store. They got sell bamboo fun and intous. The price is pretty standard. Or you can go tun jugah, Perfect PC. They got sell some wacom tablet, it is abit cheaper (Rm20-30 cheaper). Or u can go for itfusion (Apple store behind HSBC bank, pandungan). They also got sell tablets but most of the time you need to pre-order from them.

not forgetting to add, you can find cheaper deals online, and maybe just get a second hand tablet first to test up and polish your skill

There's not much to software except for the degree of control it gives you. After all, there's nothing wrong with practicing in MS Paint.

Meh you guys, MS Paint indeed... And satria, you hardly even use open canvas...

I use both programs regularly, and I use a tablet. My tablet is a Graphire 3, a rather old model, bought it several years ago for RM325 round there. I'm not too sure about the prices, but the older models aren't sold much anymore. I don't really recommend getting 2nd hand graphic tablets as you may never know what's really wrong with them unless it's hardly used and you know that the buyer is reliable. Right now, I would recommend getting a WACOM Bamboo tablet as that's the current model that's being sold and most beginners and student enthusiasts use it. However if you have the cash to spend, try getting a bigger model Intuous. :/ Having a limited few inches of space can frustrating at times.

You can get bootleg graphics programs at 'you-know-where' if you don't have the cash to spend. However, Open Canvas is a downloadable program where you can get it at http://www.portalgraphics.net/en/ . It has a trial period for you to use the program and you can decide whether or not you want to get it, you can pay a sum to purchase the product, which enables you to use all the functions of the program and most importantly, SAVE. Because once the trial period is over, you can't save. One good thing about Open Canvas is the Event Function where you can download the files, or save your own, and review the file to see how work is made in progress. ^_^ This is a feature that is rather unique and very interesting.

Photoshop CS3, this version is very good because instead of the big, cluttered boxes for palettes and such, you have a small icon that can be tabbed to the right or left of the screen. You can expand them when you want to use them, so there is less obstruction of your view. CS3 has also some added features and Adobe has put a smoother and sleeker look to the program. I find using CS3 a whole lot more enjoyable than previous versions.

In my case, I use Open Canvas for digital painting, but I use photoshop for more editing photos, touch ups, resizing, and for their effects and filters. Photoshop is more for professional use and is more for work-related graphics and such. I use Illustrator as well, since I love clear images and it's more better in creating vector images as compared to the similar pen tool in Photoshop which is somewhat different and difficult to use. If you're not a Multimedia Student and would like to learn about Photoshop CS3, do go to the thread here if you are interested to learn how to use it: http://www.ssscforum.com/photomedia-design-club-f28/event-basics-in-photoshop-cs3-tutorial-t252.htm

*stomps on Draco*

anyways, hrm.....consider it a side affect of having only 2 brothers. kinda a tomboy really.

Ok, vinvin mentioned the other day that they're selling the Bamboo Fun at a shop in Tun Jugah for around RM350. Can't remember exactly but it's less than the one sold at switch@Spring which is going for RM399. What i do know is that you can order other WACOM models through switch and according to them, it'll arrive in a few days. :< The box packaging for WACOMs are so much infinitely nicer n better now. ;_;
