no one conducts a survey without letting the respondents know the purpose of it.

People will not contribute if they don't know the purpose behind it. If its for your subject assignment, just reveal, no point hiding.

the thing is, it is ethical to let people know your purpose in conducting a survey no matter on what issue. any information not owned by you may possess a certain level of confidentiality in which the owner has the right to protect, unless there are acceptable reasons to disclose.

for your information, if you have taken HBQ 229 - Marketing Research, you should know that a researcher (the surveyor, which is Ahan) and the respondent (us) has their own rights and responsibilties. Improper execution of the research includes personal biases and motives, biased samples, and misusing statistics (im not saying that you are violating any of these), and the respondents have the right to their privacy, safety, know the true purpose of the research (note), know the research results, and decide which questions they want to answer.

respondents who do not feel happy to be interviewed reserve all the right to do so.

This is serious stuff. It concerns the surveyor's professionalism in the future. You might as well do what they say. Better to learn now than never.

Ok simply one thing here, i'm planning to launch a social community website just about swinburne students.

There will be 2 categories:

Students (living in Hostels)
Students (Anywhere else)

Have to put some features in site accordingly so see that all of participants in this survey will get a bonus of $$ in their account at that website + there will be more chances to earn in an Honest and Smart way.

Trying to develop a system based on many popular websites.

Don't take me wrong, YOUR EACH AND EVERY WORD IS SECURE and will not be misused in any way.
